In retrospect, a fun yet flawed experience.,
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto IV: Special Edition (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
GTA IV is an incredible undertaking. It is the most complex world Rockstar have ever created and the characters that fill it are incredibly well drawn.
However, looking at it now with the benefit of hindsight I don't feel like it has aged very well.
At the time Rockstar were lauded for creating such a mature product but I feel that they lost some of the fun that makes GTA so compelling.
If you're looking for a good open world experience now I recommend Saints Row The Third, though you could do much worse than GTA IV.
The special edition version was, like all special edition versions, entirely unnecessary. The lock box was pointless and the holdall was shoddily manufactured.
