This review is from: The Best of Keane - Deluxe Editon (Audio CD)
This is an excellent summary of Keane's career thus far presented in chronological order. Like a modern day Supertramp, they may not be fashionable or lauded by the music press but their keyboard driven sound has created some excellent radio-friendly tunes. 'Everybody's Changing', 'Somewhere Only We Know', 'Bedshaped' and 'This is The Last Time' are all great songs from their debut album, 'Hopes and Fears'. Most of the standout tracks on their second album, 'Under the Iron Sea' are included. It's a bit of a shame that there are only two songs from their 3rd album, 'Perfect Symmetry' but I would regard that as their weakest studio album. I, for one, am glad that they didn't include 'Stop for a Minute' which was misguided and would have jarred with the rest of this fine collection - the song was okay apart from the dreadful rapping.
I would strongly recommend buying this super deluxe version in order to get the 2nd disk of b-sides. There are some excellent tracks on this bonus disk, particularly their early b-sides such as 'Snowed Under', 'Walnut Tree' and 'Fly to Me'.
Put your prejudices to one side and buy this.
