I pre-ordered this when it was first announced and after watching the opening ceremony, this is a wonderful memory of a great summer of sport.
As others have mentioned, the ceremony has been re-edited, with better angles than the original broadcast version (the perils of live TV - it was fantastic to see Boyle's vision as he intended. There's much more of Brunel, and the fantastic Bond sequence has been tweaked too - the final scene before the jump has been altered to make it look like night. The original was a little obvious that the scenes with Daniel Craig were shot in bright sunlight, but by the time the helicopter was over the stadium it was night.
The ceremony is there in full, including the Athlete's parade (which I confess to skipping over). The only downside is that the opening ceremony is split over two discs... with the break coming just after Team GB's entrance and before the doves of peace and olympic flag. Still, it's better to be able to have the whole ceremony as opposed to edited highlights.
Can't wait to get to the sport now!
