Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ40EB-K Compact Camera - Black (18.2MP, 20x Optical Zoom Leica DC Lens, Wi-Fi with NFC, Built in GPS, 24mm Wide Angle, 50P Full HD Video - AVCHD) 3 inch LCD (Electronics)
Two issues: Despite being an IT professional, willing and able to struggle with technical issues I have to say the NFC and WiFi is such a PITA that if I want to transfer photos it's easiest to do it by plugging the memory card into the second device. And while it's possible to control the camera from my Android it's better to just settle for using the self-timer.
The other issue is that I think too little attention is paid to waterproofing. I know Panasonic make no claims in that respect and even caution against using in the rain but I got fog inside the lens just by carrying the camera in a shirt pocket.

Thanks rob1951. I assume it dried out, though? While I've been impressed with the TZ40 spec (the TZ60 not having too many advantages for the price), the build quality of both models concerns me a little. I'll take care when mine arrives...it'll be used on mountain walks a lot so it'll go in my waterproof Berghaus digital device case. The Samsung camera that I used for years was fine in all weathers but gave up the ghost last week after an encounter with fine sand and wind last week. I'd already decided that the NFC and Wi-Fi were just gimmicks, so they'll be switched off. I do wish the batteries were better; the cameras are for travel but the technology is pretty 'home-based', like smartphones, and solar power is not an option in many contexts.
