Lovely photographs and inspiring book,
This review is from: The Craft Library: Knits for Fab Feet & Cosy Toes: Over 30 Designs for Knitted Socks (Paperback)
This book gives detailed instructions on knitting socks, casting on, knitting in the round, grafting etc. Unusually it is not limited to one supplier of knitting wool - a real bonus.
There are 25 interesting designs including aran and 6 ply sock weight yarn - all very wearable for children and adults. Helpful size guide to link to shoe size. There are socks with pockets for knitted teddy, plain socks, self-patterned yarn socks, slouch and trainer socks, socks with toes - something for everyone - which should help both the novice and the experienced knitter. The latter could try the colour motif patterns. There are two felted slipper sock patterns using Rowan wool but the cost of the yarn would be about £32 at retail prices!!
There is a very useful section at the end to help to design your own socks; this is also useful in explaining basic techniques and variations on them.
All in all - a book I would recommend - although I don't know if the patterns have been test-knitted by anyone.
