This review is from: I'm A Hit Again (Audio CD)
As a youngster, I first encountered Jim Reeves singing 'I love you because' on the radio. It rode high on the Scandinavian hitlists at the time. Then, I didn't care much for his 'syrupy' style of singing and the intro was done by a HARP - which is not very rock'nroll.
With the passing of time, I have recognized his sheer genius. He left us several demo tapes which, over the years, have been orchestrated and eventually, become hits in their own right. 'Distant Drums' beeing the most famous. This double CD offers various new arrangements to previously recorded songs plus some new ones. It's very tastefully done, and I'm pretty sure, that these versions of 'Gipsy Feet' and 'I'm a Hit again' would both have been giant smashes, if issued when Jim was still alive.
