This review is from: Dangerous Highlander (A Dark Sword Novel) (Mass Market Paperback)
He is magnificently strong--and dangerously seductive. One of the fiercest of his clan, Lucan MacLeod is a legend among warriors, inspiring fear in man and woman alike. For three hundred years, he has locked himself away from the world, hiding the vengeful god imprisoned in his soul. But then, a young lass caught in a raging storm awakens his deepest impulses...and darkest desires.
Cara doesn't believe the rumors about MacLeod castle--until the majestic Highland warrior appears like a fiery vision in the storm, pulling her into his powerful arms, and into his world of magic and Druids. An epic war between good and evil is brewing. And Lucan must battle his all-consuming attraction for Cara--or surrender to the flames of a reckless, impossible love that threatens to destroy them both...
I never know what to expect from a historical paranormal but these caught my attention. We have the good guys - Highland warriors who have a God residing within their Soul. They can access their powers but when doing so it changes their outward appearance. Most warriors have been imprisoned by Deirdre, an evil druid (drough) who has been sacrificing other drough & mie (the good druids), to strengthen her powers, and she has been torturing warriors to join her side. Luckily the MacLeod brothers escaped her evil clutches and have been hiding out in their castle. Cara stumbles across them accidentally when caught in a storm and she is instantly attracted to Lucan. This book folllows the developing relationship between Cara & Lucan as well as the brothers re-immergance into the world and we see them starting to lay the past to rest and their willingness to fight for their future.
As far as first books go, I thoroughly enjoyed it! There wasn't a huge information overload, the characters where interesting and some of the secondary characters I can't wait to find out their stories!
