This review is from: 2000 English-Turkish Proverbs & Idioms (Paperback)
If you are looking for idioms and fragments of speech, this book could be just what you're after, I figure. However, I was looking for proverbs.
A friendly suggestion: Let the title and book presentation reflect the content better. If there are about a hundred complete proverbs in the book, knowing this could help the prospective buyer/reader. And yes, there are few proverbs in the book. By way of suggestion, a more accurate title might be "1900 idioms and fragments, and some hundred interspersed proverbs". I have not counted them all, only performed spot tests on half a dozen pages or so so far, so I have no exact count, only a rough estimate.
I give the book four stars as a proverb sampler only - from that perspective only - due to how the proverbs are presented. If they had been separated from the many idioms, detecting or looking up the proverbs might have been a lot easier. Complete proverbs could be placed in a group for itself, or marked in the text by some or several means.
Hence, sorting out or showing off the proverbs and/or making the title reflect that the massive content of the book is idioms, are they bad ideas?
