A competent monitor, but ...,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Acer V226HQLAb 21.5 inch Full HD LED Monitor (Accessory)
Acer is a tried and tested brand, which normally proves very reliable. So far, I have had no problems with the unit and the picture it produces is great for normal browsing and office applications. It worked well out of the box, but there are a cluster of buttons at the bottom right of the front bezel for those who like to tweak things a bit. The highest resolution the monitor will display is 1920 x 1080 (full HD), though on a monitor this size, it is unlikely you would notice the difference between HD and standard definition images.
Before you buy, though, a word of warning.
I initially intended to use it with a venerable old XP machine which was running an Acer 4:3 format monitor. In view of the move towards wide-format videos and software in general, I thought the V226HQLAb would make a refreshing modern change. What I forgot to check was whether the graphics card/chip in the computer could actually match the supported resolutions of the monitor. It couldn't, so I've used the new monitor elsewhere.
This is my mistake, and not that of the monitor, so I would not dock a star for that. But if you intend to buy, do check that your computer graphics card/chip supports wide-screen formats. Otherwise, you end up with distorted images.
OK, so there's no HDMI connector, but this is a computer monitor, not a TV, and that helps to keep the price down. It's good value for money.
