First and still his best,
This review is from: English Seafood Cookery (Cookery Library) (Paperback)
Its years ago but we ate at his first place in St Isaac whilst doing a coastal walk for a couple of weeks. Must have stuck as I bought this as soon as it arrived on the bookshelves and i'm not a foodie. Got a greater interest in cooking now and have read many a book on fish, including all his later offerings but this is still the best IMHO. Unpretentious, cheap and compact its the only book you need if you were being hard on yourself. He writes without artifice, the recipes are clearly laid out and all the ones I have tried have worked beautifully.
Just a taster .... chop some garlic finely/ heat a little sesame oil/ throw former into latter for no more than six seconds and pour over your cooked fillet. Simple but delicious.
We have been within a few feet of him when visiting Padstow for 'Obbey 'Orse day but have resisted the temptation to run up and say " 'Ere, Haven't I seen you on the telly"
