Thought that I might be in for a let down,
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto V (PS3) (Video Game)
Despite being a big GTA fan, I had some concerns. Three characters? Won't that take some of the fun out of it? Are they doing heists ALL the time? Is that all there is? Answer - no. Being able to choose who to play as and when (though you don't have immediate access to all three) adds to the game significantly in terms of gameplay options and the advancement of the story. I also like that you're thrown into the game immediately, whereas previous games have just been a long cut scene.
The rest has already been written, so I'm not going to wax lyrical about the endless hours you can spend not doing anything related to the game but still enjoy it. And if you thought the cops were hard to lose in GTA IV, get ready for this one!!
Edit: Feeling a bit short changed now. I'm not what you would call an avid gamer (I rarely spend hours at a time) yet I've finished the story already. Thought it was sadly lacking in terms of depth and character development and it ends on a...well, it just ends before it feels like it should. I hoped it was building to something good. It doesn't have the GTA IV style twists and neither Franklin, Michael or Trevor are as intriguing as Niko, although Trevor's something else entirely!! Also found elements tedious to the extreme (I skipped sections through sheer boredom). Still a quality game, just not worthy of the five stars I originally gave it.
