Why can't they get the versions sorted!,

Well, the version control on Blancmange compilations continues to fall short BUT we do finally have the gorgeous album version of 'Waves' on CD, along with 'I would' finally making it as well. Along with the original 'Sad Day' which is hard to find on CD
So what of the typos on the track listing? Feel Me 7" is the album version, leaving the 7" edit missing from any CD collection. 'The day before you came' is the album version and not the single version. Lose Your Love is NOT the album version and I am sure Game Above My Head is the US version and not the long version - I can't be bothered to check given as have lost the will....
If this your first or catching up CD for Blancmange then you will love it. Long standing fans trying to replace the vinyl will be delighted in one hand and very disappointed on the other hand - besides the errors already mentioned, we still have no Lose Your Love or What's your problem extended versions on CD.

Is the 12" version of Don't Tell Me included in this collection the superior 6:52 "U.S. remix" or the inferior 6:31 U.K. "extended version" which was also included on the 2-CD version of Mange Tout a few years back? I have the U.S. remix as a 160 Mbps MP3 but I'd love to actually have a better quality version on CD as well.

Hmm, how typical for a Blanc collection to be a bit of a fugde! So...the version of Waves is different to the one on the Edsel issue of Happy Families? I may get this to have that and the album mix of Day Before You Came again, which wasn't on the Mange Tout deluxe. Plus the handful of previously-unreleased tracks/versions/sessions.
It does stagger me just how often these 80s reissues - be they FGTH, Bronksi Beat, Swing Out Sister, you name it - fail to get things right; if they're not vinyl rips, they're mis-labelled mixes, faulty/mixed-up masters, or they simply leave out things which any fan would surely want. Argh!

It's the inferior 6:31 U.K. "extended version" of Don't Tell me that's on this i'm afraid to say.

By The way how is the sound quality ? Those Edsel releases from a few years back weren't that good. Are these the same masters they used once again ?

Don't Tell Me (Dance Remix) aka the US mix is on Retro:Active 2 - Rare & Remixed released in 2004 though it's mastered loud as hell.

The sad reality is that you may have the U.S. Remix of "Don't Tell Me" as a 160 kbps MP3, but realistically, had the label used this version it probably would have been MP3 sourced like many of the other tracks. In other words, you would not be getting any quality improvement.
As for using the wrong versions, again, how many times do we have to tell labels to just get in contact with the fans? Unfortunately, they simply don't care and just look for another quick cash grab. Sad.
