Thank you for this-I noticed one such advertised book on Amazon said it was derived from Wikepedia articles but another did not-one would hope that Amazon would insist on such disclosure

Glad my review helped. I am studying Quantum GIS at uni and have a list of some excellent GIS books that are not a rip off. Firstly, on the QGIS website itself are both 'The Gentle Introduction' and 'QGIS User Guide' which are both excellent and free. Some other general GIS books which are good and not a scam are 'Encyclopdia of GIS', 'Fundamentals of GIS', 'GIS for Web Developers' and 'Desktop GIS - Mapping the Planet with Open Source Tools'. Hope this helps!

Hi Linda, Saw your comment on the Beach Boy book you must have
read it. As I am an avid collector of any books on them have you a copy that you could sell to me as I cannot purchase a copy anywhere.

regards,

Terry Perkins.

There is another one of these scams for the book, Mistakes Were Made but Not by Me showing different authors on the image of the book but the correct authors in the description.

I just fell for the offer of a copy of an out of print book. I have bought other books this way from reliable publishers but this was not a book and the firm should be avoided like the plague. It had the wiki article, and also several totally unrelated articles. It is a complete con. Please Amazon, don't continue dealing with these people.
Why on earth would anyone want a bound copy of a short article you can download and print off on a few pages - legitimately and free?

Hi Terry - I haven't commented on any Beach Boys book and don't own one either. Hope you found a copy though.

I note a there is a book on Toller Cranston published by Bookvika on ebay. However the cover shows a SNOWBOARDER. Toller was a skater.

Could not agree more. I have just been taken but the sum of money was minor. What I do wonder is how come here two years after the first post above, Amazon and Abebooks have not banned these guys from using the site. In fact it is down right disappointing that they are still allowed on the site.

In fact, there is no way to contact the seller either - surely Amazon/Abebooks would insist on that as basic pre-requisite for doing business.

Sorry to say I did via AbeBooks UK. I have a great interest in The Wars of The Roses and as such am buying books about the various battles which were part of this episode I noticed various books on Amazon which were obviously Bookvika and so avoided them so you can imagine my annoyance when I ordered a book from USA via AbeBooks and it turned out to be the same rubbish being sold on Amazon. 1 page was devoted to the battle of Blore Heath the rest of the book was given over to unrelated information I could find in any history book.
Once bitten as the saying goes.
