A Spooky Classic,
This review is from: The Woman In Black (Vintage Classic) (Vintage Classics) (Paperback)
The Woman in Black is a classic ghost story, although quite a slim volume, every page provides a spooky, chilling atmosphere. Susan Hill is one of my favourite writers, her words are very descriptive, and her characters easily visualized. The story begins with the main character, happily settled with his family on Christmas Eve, however once the children begin to recount ghost stories, Arthur Kipps is reminded of a ghost story he has spent years trying to forget. He cannot bring himself to tell any of his family about this ghost but decides to write it all down, so begins the story of his visit as a solicitor to Crythin Gifford, to attend Alice Drablow's funeral and Eeel Marsh House.
I first saw the Woman in Black as a TV one off drama, it was very scary, and I have since seen it at the theatre 3 or 4 times. Superb! Curl up by the fire with this classic ghost story! The Woman in Black (Vintage Classics)
