Cost effective solution to a home with heavier than average networking requirements, or a small business. Basically by plugging one close to the router or the broadband, so you can put the "incoming" data ethernet cable into the plug, you can then trasmit to other plug(s) - eg in other rooms or other end of large room, without having to use long ethernet cabling to connect up. For example , in my home there are networked deviced in the study, but the broadband router is in the lounge. The two plug starter pack is enough for that. With the 3 ports (each plug) it means I can have the incoming data and 5 other wired network "user" cables (two in lounge, three in study) operating over the distance of the house.
