This review is from: Charley Boorman - By Any Means [DVD] (DVD)
Charlie Boorman is not a natural in front of the camera and often the whole series seems to be 'we have just arrived in...' and 'isnt it amazing..' Meeting local people has little substance as we find out very little about them due to the insistance on pushing on.
The premis of the doc is to travel from Wicklow to Sidney 'by any means' possible and count the different vehicles...I had no idea they would include each variety or make of car/bike as a different vehicle.
Russ is just a bit hopeless...his bits to camera are lame and his camera work is dire. There is no chemistry between him and Charlie - in the initial series they seemed to hate each other. Charlie whipping his shoes off to ride an elephant while Russ kept his cowboy boots on which says it all...city media guy trying to be hip and alround soul guy actually doing it.
These docs need Ewan, a camera man and noone else. Even less of the uppity team back in west london could do with hushing up a bit. They are sooooo TV.
Give it a miss.
