Ahhh...now i understand what they mean!,
This review is from: Sams Teach Yourself Perl in 24 Hours (Paperback)Are you new to programming with Perl? If so, get this book. Out of all the books i've tried to have a go at learning with (and there have been a few over the last couple of years) this has been far and away the best one yet.
All the lessons are nicely spaced out and you're not overwhelmed with too much information at one time but you always have the option of learning more with the supplied CD. And though they say "24 hours" you'll find you're locking yourself in the study/bedroom/library from dawn to dusk engrossed in every detail. Tell the family not to worry, you're just programming (most learn to accept it after a while!)
The book is written for Mac, unix and windows and explains what the difference is within the pages. It's very easy to set up and you'll be up and running very quickly. There's no need for you to change OS or anything daft like that.
Initially, i bought this book to learn Perl for personal use. I wanted to create a guestbook for my website but i found i could do so much more. Being a webdesigner i now also use it to get forms sent back and have data verified. And this book shows you how to do it. It's not made for pro's but then, you can't learn to run if you've not managed to walk yet now can you?
Thanks Pierce for the great information and Sams for producing another title to help mine, and i'm sure many many more's, knowledge of IT.
