This review is from: Bryan Ferry: The Bete Noire Tour [DVD] (DVD)
This is a disc of 2 halves. The New Town section is excellent. the mix is amazing, picture quality is a bit grainy but that adds to the feel of the gigs. The 2002 gig is a different bucket of monkeys. The picture quality is stunning. Almost HD quality. The sound is a different matter....a very poor mix indeed. Ferry's vocals are too far forward in the mix. Hardly any bass to speak of and Mick Green's guitar is too loud into the bargain! I've not been this disappointed in a DVD since Pink Floyd's 'Pulse'! Virgin mess up again!

The 2002 sound mix is indeed extremely disappointing. (I just bought region 1 NTSC version, was wondering if it was just my copy, googled around to check if others had the same problem.) Unlike the Bete Noire part which gave a choice of mixes (stereo and 5.1) in the initial setup, the 2002 part didn't; while my player indicated there were two, when I tried to switch it indicated there was only one.
