More efficient windows,
This review is from: Microsoft Windows 8 Standard 64 bit OEM, WN7-00403, English Version (DVD-ROM)
I think windows 8 is a welcome addition to the windows suites, especially for those people who are less inclined in using more traditional computers. It grants you a very easy and intuitive GUI which will help you in the early days. If you then learn a few windows commands and want to customize your experience you are allowed to do so.
You can easily add a start button to windows 8 if you really need to! In fact there are a lot of things you can customize in windows 8, not to mention that since installing it on my PC, it starts faster and is more efficient, the battery lasts longer, and the whole OS is more responsive as a whole.
I have customized it so it feels like a windows 7 experience, but I can still click on the corner of the screen and go back to the usual windows 8 touch experience. It's particularly useful because I like to remotely control my desktop via an ipad, and the touch capabilities on there are very nice, and wifi permitting, the ipad becomes a beast while I'm remote controlling my desktop. I can do anything I want from the ipad as long as I have a good connection. Stream HD movies, games, work on office, print at home, the lot...
Once I'm back on the desktop at home, I click the corner of the screen and I go back to using the regular desktop ambience with explorer.exe running on the background, and I open and install my applications normally from the desktop as I've done for the last 20 years.
I really don't see what the big deal is with windows 8 bashers, the way I see it you are getting the best of both worlds, it's counter intuitive to resist evolution!
