This review is from: Fifty Shades Darker (Kindle Edition)
I think it is interesting to note that (at the current time) there are 915 reviews for 50 Shades of Grey but only 100 for this one! I read the first one and despite the poor writing skills and the almost laughable repetition of words and phrases, I quite enjoyed it. The character of Christian is quite well defined and I actually found myself fancying him (although I don't think we needed to be told how 'beautiful' he is on every single page). On the other hand the character of Ana is as wet as a lettuce.
This second book is just 300+ pages of soft porn mixed with Mills & Boon mush! Once again the level of repetition is beyond belief - I strongly recommend that the author buys a thesaurus. However, let's be honest, no one is buying this book for its literary appeal. The sex scenes are pretty much constant in this book but once you have read one you really don't need to read the rest. I actually found myself skipping huge sections because I was just so bored of their shenanigans. The best bits of both books are the emails between Christian and Ana.
I cannot face the 3rd book so I have have a run down of what happens from a friend who has read it!

I would normally go out and buy new hyped up books. Am curious about this new lot but will wait till it appears in a charity shop as have read some negative reviews.

I agree the best bits are the emails ! There is no real story, very repetitive but I do want to find out why MR GREY is like he is!

Agreed. the first book was ok, not outstanding, but readable.
This book however really just repeats the same things over and over again from the first book. Same phrases, same sex scenes. To be honest it just gets boring.
And then there's the absurdity. I know it's fiction, but at one point it becomes almost laughable (without ruining the plot, when someone with two weeks work experience is put in charge of the running of a publishing company).
You do find yourself skimming over whole tracts of text in this book. And, yes, I found myself skipping over the sex scenes because they were sooooooo repetitive. After you take away the sex scenes unfortunately there's nothing much left to commend it.

definitely agree that the author could do with a thesaurus. the conversations within the boo were so repetitive you could predict what they were going to say. despite all of this i couldnt put them down and read the trilogy in a couple of days.

Having just read Falling for an Angel im now converted from 50 Shades darker. Falling although explicit in parts does have a story to follow.
