A good read,
This review is from: 1001 Beers: You Must Try Before You Die (Paperback)
This a large heavy book full of nice illustations of the (mostly bottled) beers. The title is obviously tongue in cheek. There are not really 1001 beers you Must try, and consequently there are plenty of beers listed that really don't live up to the billing. There are far too many wierd and wonderful American craft concoctions which are probably a minority taste if indeed they still exist. The beers are classified into various types (blonde, dark etc.) which is somewhat subjective and can make it difficult to find a favourite beer. Because of its size this is not a book to take to the pub, and most of the beers are bottled anyway, but its a good book to browse at home, look up to see if your favourite beer or the new one youve just discovered is in there. The pages are nice and glossy, the illustrations are excellent and the text is well researched and informative. A good read even if there are too many beers in there. I suppose 156 Beers You Must Try.. is not such a snappy title!
