A Black Beauty,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Allen Book of Painting and Drawing Horses (Paperback)
Circumstances referred to elsewhere (The Anatomy and Action of the Horse (Dover Art Instruction)) sent me in search of resources to improve my drawing (and ideally my painting) of horses.
Whilst for a non-beginner Lee Hammond's book Draw Horses! (Discover Drawing) was perhaps a bit prescriptive in terms of technique and equipment, Jennifer Bell's book perhaps leans a little too far the other way. It is a slim and inexpensive book, so one should not expect a vast amount of content, but I've not found anything to explain technique or suggest appropriate media other than what can be deduced, really, from the pictures themselves.
That said, however, the pictures are beautiful, informative, energetic and full of character, and I'm happy to keep them by me.
