Just one psychological drama after another,
This review is from: Total Pop!: The First 40 Hits (Audio CD)
Erasure must be one of a select few bands who can genuinely boast 40 hit singles, even in a career lasting 24 years. From vibrant and vacuous early numbers such as 'Oh L'amour' (later covered even more successfully by plastic pop puppets 'Dollar), to more mature and intense tracks like 'Drama', 'Chorus' and 'Stop'; you'll be amazed at how many of the songs on here that you recognise. Even in the mid-90s, after their bubble had burst, Erasure continued to produce quality pop songs; the likes of 'Breathe' and 'Here I go Immpossible Again' showing a maturity and deftness of touch that hasn't deserted Vince Clarke yet, even as the band's distinctive brand of synth-pop has gone in and out of fashion.
Without a duff track on it, this is great buy and an essential collection of inspired pop nuggets.
