A quality item,
This review is from: Microsoft Surface with Windows RT 32GB Tablet ONLY
The Microsoft Surface tablet has one feature that (for me anyway) puts it far above all the others including Apple. I don't mean the cool Live Tiles or the USB port that takes everything from a mouse to a printer, or the slot for extra memory ... up to 34 gigs, no for me the best thing is that underneath the standard Tablet interface (with all it's apps) is a standard Windows Desktop. I can't run programs from there (except Office of course) but I can run the normal version of Internet Explorer, I can drag and drop pics, videos, movies, documents etc., into my good old 'my documents' file. You want to put a movie on Surface. Copy to a memory stick, plug into the USB port and drag it over! It also has the normal ability use any pic I want as Desktop and even access to the normal Control Panel where I can change many of the same settings as on my PC. I can even 'hide' files or pics and set the system to 'show hidden files' when I want. The point I am making here is that Surface is the most versatile and easy to use Tablet there is. Of course if you only want to run apps then the Apple is ok. If you know little about PC's and just use them for the internet or looking at pics, then what I like about Surface is probably meaningless, and you will be happy with another tablet I'm sure. My partner has the ipad and she used to love it ... before I got my Surface. Now she resents how easily I move stuff to and from my Tablet, and the cool Live Tiles look. She has to use 'itunes' to move stuff which she hates. Anyway, this of course is just my personal opinion, not gonna change anyone's mind. Buy what's right for you!

Microsoft Surface with Windows, does this acceptPublisher Documents for reference?
I have a lot of information stored on Publisher and would like to keep it on the tablet for reference.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

Don't see why not. you could at least store the data on the memory card. Obviously you can't run the program but no reason why you can't just keep them there. The desktop is just like a PC with a 'my computer' that gives access to C: drive and memory card.
