This review is from: Devil's Chimney: Chalvington Barnes #1 (Kindle Edition)
I've just finished Devil's Chimney and I enjoyed it as much if not more than any crime novel I've read. I too am a Police Officer and in fact work in the Major Crime Branch at Eastbourne. I liked reading how the character progressed from uniform to CID and encountered the MCB also. Like Barnes, I worked in the Grove Road nick when CCTV was in the room next door. It was really enjoyable reading about locations I know really well rather than places I've never heard of in US cities such as Los Angeles or New York. Only last night I was finishing a late shift and driving along Firle Straight from the Beddingham roundabout. Like in the book, it was dark, foggy and I was tempted to overtake the slow moving car in front. I had to chuckle to myself when I recalled that very scenario in the book, not wanting the same outcome I chose to back off and enjoy the slow drive back to Eastbourne. Well done Tin and thanks for a great read. Thanks also for taking the time to answer my email personally. I look forward to the return of Barns.

Mrs Clarke - thank you so much for your kind comment. If you had a burning urge to post these views in a short review of your own this author would not object! All best, TL
