Bit too graphic for me,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Basement: serial killer thriller with a breathtaking twist (Kindle Edition)
I read part of this book which I purchased for my Kindle after reading the trial. I must admit to not being a prude and the elements of the book that I read were well written, however, I have never been a fan of books which portray graphic violent sex, so after the first such graphic episode I decided to cease reading this book. I suppose I was pretty naive as the synopsis indicated it as much.
Many others have thoroughly enjoyed this book and I level no critiscism at them in this regard. But if you, like me, do not like reading a book which has pretty graphic kidnap and violent sex contained within it I would suggest that you avoid this one and seek something a little more sedate.

This review is enough to put me off buying this book. Like Mr Morawiec, I am no fan of voyeuristic violence, especially when it has a sexual content. There's enough 'out there' in the real world, and in pornography thanks, without buying it for my kindle. Thanks 'Stefan'

Hi Jane Austen. I fear that Stefan has mislead you, there is very little violence in the book and absolutely no pornography! It's worth remembering that he only read a few pages and I can assure you that in view of the identity of the killer sexual violence isn't an issue...... He's clearly a sensitive soul and The Basement obviously wasn't for him, but it has sold almost 200,000 copies and there have been very few complaints about pornography!

Hi Mr Leather. Thanks for responding. I always believe in responding with an open mind in regard to any review that I undertake on an item that I purchase from Amazon and yes, after reading the free introduction, I did purchase your book and then proceeded to read it to a point where I determined that it was not for me and upon what basis I did not want to read any more: I even made comment that many would enjoy it and there was no criticism intended of them or vicariously yourself.
I feel that I have some experience of life too and in that regard you are being somewhat condescending in your assessment of my review and subsequently my personality: in essence, if you offer your book up for public consumption, should individuals like myself feel that it is not suitable for them and make comment, that is perfectly acceptable, providing that it is truthful in their eyes:. Following your assessment of my persona after reading a short review produced by myself, using that same formula, where should the reader place you after reading your book?
In summary, Amazon allows purchasers to make assessments of products openly, which I feel that I have done. Other individuals have reviewed your product positively and I acknowledged that in my review: they have enjoyed reading it, I on the other hand did not and have commented that I didn't Ultimately you have sold 200,000 copies of this book and in that regard I, as one who actually purchased it too, have simply voiced my opinion, which many who subsequently purchase it after our exchange of comments have the opportunity to judge.
