Guaranteed to make you sob!,
This review is from: The Love Verb (Hardcover)I read Girl Friday and was quite disappointed in it but all faith has been restored in The Love Verb. Jane Green lost her close friend Heidi to a rare cancer and this book is decicated to her.
Callie has the perfect life.....a gorgeous husband, 2 delightful children, a fabulous sister and amazing best friend....but she has had cancer and is living with the fear of it's return.
Her sister Steffi is a chef and the book is filled with mouthwatering recipes ( I made the chickpea and spinach curry last night and am doing the tomato and feta tarts tonight) and her best friend Lila has just met the love of her life and is revelling in new found happiness.
Callie and Steffi's parents went through a trauamtic divorce years ago and can't bear to be in the same room but everyone is brought together when Callie begins to feel unwell again.
The story line is predictable but it's a great read and you feel like part of the family. The book makes you realise how much your friends and family mean to you and make you want to grab every happy moment and remember how precious life is.
Keep the tissues close by....the last line of the book made me sob outloud!!!!
