Arcadia on Dreamcast,
This review is from: Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast) (Video Game)
Skies of Arcadia is up there with the very best JRPGs ever. With the state of that genre these days, with their quick fix broad appeal gameplay, I would suggest that we are now talking about a style of game that all practically gone. Final Fantasy has long since lost its way, and what remains appears to be confined to Nintendo's consoles. Back in 2000/2001, however, Skies of Arcadia was merely the latest in a long line of fantastic RPG titles going back fifteen or more years across a wide range of systems. And even with such competition as classic FF, Grandia, Chrono Trigger and RPGs-lite such as Zelda, SoA still managed to stand out with its vibrant colour palette and unique sky pirate theme. Quite simply, its a must for classic era JRPG fans.
Just a word to the wise, though. Those without a copy yet, beware Amazon and eBay profiteers. I'd advise looking around before handing over what is currently not far off £100 on these websites. The game wasn't that hard to find when it came out, and plenty of people owned copies, so its not that scarce and its current prices are ludicrous.
