kleenex at the ready,
This review is from: The Notebook (Paperback)
This was our book group book for December. I saw the movie a couple of years ago, learned it was based on a book, and bought the book in a charity shop, then stuck it on my shelf with all the other unread books. I always meant to read it but the thing is that the film is really emotional and affected me quite a lot so I really didn't want to go through that again with the book. Although it is *nice* in a way because it is a love story and a wonderful story, it is also very sad, and sometimes you just don't want to end up in tears. So I thought I would be able to cope with reading the book for the group and also to watch the movie again - which I love but you know, very sad - but I found myself crying even after only a few pages. I think probably because I was remembering how I felt watching the movie, which is arranged differently so you don't know about the really sad stuff until the end.
Anyway, I'll stop rambling on and say that it's a good book, and well worth reading if you like love stories and romance, but be prepared for tears. The movie is also very good but again a box of tissues may be required.
