5.0 out of 5 stars Sky! From the future or past? Interesting concept tho!, 30 Dec. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Sky - The Complete Series [DVD] (DVD)
Sky is an interesting '70s show! Even then, considered a little weird. But remember the 70s in the UK had quite a few of these 'odd' short lived (usually one) series programs. A great age of playfulness and trying something maybe. I guess the money was around then to try something. Look at Terra Nova now! Loadsa money behind it, Steven Spielberg yet only the one season due to the general opinion that the script writers did 'ok' only!

But back to Sky.

The show is basically about this 'being' ('child' of the future..... or maybe the past, oo er!) who has the 'power' to 'fix' the Earth from the human contamination (ie rubbish in the seas, pollution, the ozone layer etc). But he has arrived at the wrong 'time' so is considered like a 'foreign object' to our planet. The planet 'strikes back' just like our own human body would with a foreign object (a splinter or common cold <flu> maybe).
The series basically follows Sky on his journey to get to where he (it) was meant to be. Earth future or past, who knows!

Sadly, programs now a days need to make ratings, even though I think this was well followed, it's story was perhaps a little to 'advanced' for the time! Very good effort though and I can't help wondering if present day special effects would improve on the story although the scripts would have to be up-dated as well, as watching the 1970s acting was a bit 'cringe making'. Another 70s show (Children of the Stones) had almost 30 seconds of 'pause' where the actor/s had possibly up to 30 seconds to just stand there beofre the break! Try it! Just stand there awaiting the 'CUT!' shout! We've moved on I guess!

Mr. Mc Perry says:
I'm sure Sky isn't from the past or he wouldn't of had them weird eyes and powers, He also said this is the time before the destruction!

must admit bout the acting some of it was alright and some of it was 'cringe worthy' don't know why it wasn't one or the other

I do prefer kids shows in the 80's like Chocky, Box of delights, Running Scared, Gemini Factor, Moondial, Erasmus Microman,Aliens in the family,
Tuckers Luck, etc
