Better than the first half of Season Six...,

This review is from: Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 6 - Episodes 12-22 (Box Set) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer from the very first episode, and really enjoyed it. The show got better, and Seasons Two and Three blew me away...witty dialogue, intersting plots, and the underlying relationships of the central characters made this show a teen drama with a difference. Season Four tried to make the show grow up; it went all sci-fi, lost three regular cast members and reduced the roles of another two. Poor. Thankfully, Season Five was better...but still not the shows best. Can Season Six change this?
As I discovered....no. I admit, the relationship storylines behind this season have been excellent....with the exception of the excruciating Buffy/Spike thing - Spike was good evil, but his descent into sloppy love puppy was sickening. Unlike previous years, there are no 'Slayer' storylines of any real worth to back up the central character development, until the final three episodes. The show seems empty and lacking.
There are some very good episodes in this boxset..."Hells Bells", "Normal Again", "Villains", "Two To Go" and "Grave" are excellent, and are good examples of a more mature, sexier Buffy, and join earlier episodes "Once More, With Feeling" and "Tabula Rasa" as being the only reasons to watch Season Six.
Unlike many Buffy die-hards, I thought Willow's descent into madness and vengeful psychosis was this seasons strong point, and the final episode is my favourite season finale so far.
The "Real World" being the big bad in this season was a very worthwhile idea...however I think the execution was less than desireable.
