Great Package - A Bargain for the £69.97 I paid !,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Inspector Morse - The Complete Series (18 DVD) [DVD] (DVD)
Do not be dissuaded by previous reviewers as they are either wrong or Amazon has combined reviews for alternative 'Morse' boxsets being sold.
If you buy the declared 33 disc set (it may previously have been issued with fewer discs) each disc contains only 1 episode !
The packaging is fine (each series is in a cardboard sleeve with 1 disc per 'page' in the 'book' style housing for each series) with lots of photos of Morse and the picture/sound quality good for what is now a dated archive recording.
(I have added 2 photos to the item page showing an example of the packaging for the case of each Series within the boxset)
HOH subtitles are available and each disc has a picture gallery. All other features are as per the Amazon listing. Well worth buying if you enjoy, like me, the caustic nature of the working relationship between Morse and Lewis.

thank you for this comprehensive review re technical quality. It has helped me decide between this product and the much cheaper 'boxed set'.

I hope you're happy with it. Obviously I can't say if the newer boxset is any worse as I don't have it but what amazon did was combine reviews where some were observing on the poor quality due to there being 2 episodes per disc.
Irrespective of the source material, if you compress 2 episodes onto 21 disc as opposed to 1 per disc there will be a drop in quality.
I think the 33-disc boxset has far better packaging and makes it a real collection item due to the cases and photos etc.

Hi, All I can see is the 18 disk sets, How do you get hold of the ones with 33 disks?. Or am I being stupid?. Thanks.

Mr. Laurence Williams says:
Hello - thanks for your enquiry.
You're not being stupid, like many DVD boxsets it has now been 'repackaged' and the disc-count reduced. Amazon have the 33-disc boxset in the photo but have changed the description.
As the 33-disc set is now out of production you'll have to search a bit and might even find one still new.
I had a quick look on a well-known auction site and there was at least one new of the 33-disc set......
You can also try the 'used & new' section via the link on each Amazon product page.
In either case, unless the seller description states '33 discs' I suggest you check with them before buying/bidding.
Happy Hunting !
