At last! A real science based parenting book!,
This review is from: The Science of Parenting: Practical Guidance on Sleep, Crying, Play and Building Emotional Wellbeing for Life (Hardcover)
In a world where one is bombarded by conflicting advice about what is best for my child (sleep routines, behaviour, tantrums, etc.), this book is like a breath of fresh air. Unlike those thousands of opinion based parenting books, which have no scientific evidence to corroborate those opinions, The Science of Parenting is packed with useful advice, backed up with literally hundreds of scientific studies.
The author conveys what are quite complex scientific concepts in easy to understand language, diagrams and she uses examples of behaviour that I have seen in my own child.
It's so refreshing to see something solid and different from the same old baby books, and it's a fascinating read!

I can not recommend this book highly enough. Many Parents Parent by critique, bullying, ordering around, and dictating. And in general don't know how to get the best out of their child, without realizing where they go wrong. This book helps the Parent understand what changes take place in the immature brain and what happens as a consequence of these actions. This book is one of the most useful books on Parenting and how to bring up a child to be a socially well rounded individual which will go on to serve them later in life. It also places much emphasis on the Parents role and just how important your interactions with your child on every level helps mould them into what they become, both good and bad. At last a book which in my humble opinion helps Parents remember just how much responsibility they have to set a good example to their child and treat them with the love, kindness and tenderness that will help a child absorb these (much needed in our society) qualities. How to prevent your child becoming a bully and what you can do to help them become a present contribution to society rather than a sub-functioning addition, who does not know how to interact with others on many different levels. If you don't mind being faced with where you may be going wrong buy this book. It will open your eyes and help you to be a better Parent and have a better Child.
