I was dubious about seeing this film because I had never seen a foreign film before and didn't know if I would still enjoy it with subtitles. However, I went along to one of the local cinemas that had got this film, and I was blown away. The film begins introducing all the characters and slowly you get to grips with how they all know each other and the storyline can start - it does this relatively quickly. From the off, the jokes are so cleverly hilarious everyone in the cinema was laughing incredibly loudly and pretty much uncontrollably. There are some events in the film which will absolutely tickle you to the point where you talk about them for days and want to see the film again just for the brilliant laugh it gives you. One particular storyline should have you on your back with laughter and it's a running theme all the way through. As well as being superbly funny, this film also has a meaningful storyline, looking at a critically injured friend and how the characters deal with that, relationships, and the friendship between the group that we see. This story is told well, with well cast actors and actresses portraying their characters excellently. The film is believable which is a strange thing to see these days I think - we mostly have outrageous things happening in comedies, but in this film, though the occasional idea is a bit far fetched, you can still very much imagine it being the case. The one thing I would caution people about is the duration of the film - it does last for a good 2.5-3 hours, so you need to have plenty of time to sit down and watch it. This is, however, the only fault I can really pick with it - and even then it's not a fault, because the film really is so funny I wasn't keen for it to end anyway! So if you have a spare three hours, give this a watch. If you don't have a spare three hours, fit them in somewhere because this film really is worth your time!! Comments

Completely agree with you and, yeah, it could have perhaps lost a reel or two in length - I just don't know where.

It's hard to think where isn't it? Most of it was too funny to cut out!

Saw little White Lies in the cinema last night, loved it but face the facts the director was also the writer and was very self indulgent and the film would have been better and sharper at 100 minutes, what is wonderful is the ensemble acting, and the crash in the first minutes was one of the most startling effects I have seen on film, similar to the suicide in Cache.

My God, that suicide scene is horrific!

The movie (which is brillant by the way!) is actually 148 minutes (including credits) so just under 2.5 hours. So it is long but these days it feels like most films are between 2 and 2.5 hours anyway.

Very likely, but there's no more arrpgant film-maker out there than 'Magnolia' man Thomas Anderson-and that lumpen, ham-fisted, overwrought, embarassing & highy unbeliveable piece of trash was 3 sodding hours exactly! This is long, but the very good 'Pot Luck' was also almost as lengthy. It is true that films today, from worthy dramas to Caribbean Pirates or anything with Will Smith just do not want tohear the word cut! But I bet this is one highly enjoyable 148 mins!
