The Tin Snail,
This review is from: The Tin Snail (Hardcover)
This is sure to be a hit. It's an adventure story that romps along, with engaging characters and a lot of humour. Although the main protagonist's parents are in the throes of breaking up, there's none of the angst or self-pity that besets so many books aimed at teenagers. Each chapter is quite short, and a little story in its own right. The atmosphere of pre-war and war-torn rural France is conjoured up beautifully; I don't know about teenagers, but this old woman was enchanted!
