Great headphone for when you are on the go!,
This review is from: MEE audio Sport-Fi S6P Memory Wire In-Ear Headphones with Microphone, Remote, Volume Control, and Sports Armband (Red/Black) (Electronics)
These headphones are labelled `Sport-Fi' and have several features that make them great for outdoor activities. There's a neat zip case to keep them safe, an armband to hold your MP3 player or phone and a key pocket, but what I like most of all is the `memory' wire. The first couple of inches of cable from the earpiece are shrouded in this black memory wire, the idea being that you wrap this around the top of your ear to help hold the headphones in place. I was a bit sceptical at first, but once you get the hang of it, it works really well helping them stay put and is surprisingly comfortable.
These are a noise isolating design, ie they block external noise, and come with a good selection of ear tips of different designs and sizes. My advice would be to take a few minutes to try them all out. I jumped in with the ones already fitted for the first few days, but when I got around to reading the booklet I went back and tried the others and they do differ in comfort and performance. At home I prefer the triple flange ones which seem best at cutting out noise whilst I use the simplest single flange ones when I'm cycling as they seem to allow more ambient sound to keep me aware of what's going on around me. In fact it's possible to loosen the headphones a little and still have them held in place to let more ambient sound in when necessary.
Rather than use the armband, I use the extension cable provided and store the MP3 player in the back pocket of my cycling jacket. I've also used them with my Olympus voice recorder. As the headphones come with a 4 pole 3.5 mm jack plug I bought this adapter cable StarTech 3.5mm 4 Pin to 2x 3 Pin 3.5mm Headset Splitter Adapter - F/M to connect it to the voice recorder which has separate microphone and headphone sockets. It also lets me connect to my PC. The microphone works very well and I've found it really handy for note taking.
As to the sound quality, there is perhaps a tendency towards the treble end of the spectrum though not enough to drive me to fiddle with the graphic equaliser settings on my player. Having read the booklet it does mention that the headphones will burn-in during use, but straight out of the box these compare very favourably with other headphones I've owned.
In summary a well-designed set of headphones with good sound and particularly well suited for use when you're being active.
