Unimpressive horror - passable.,
This review is from: Texas Chainsaw (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray) (Blu-ray)
Mixing conspiracy horror with slasher, this movie tries to act as a kind of sequel, showing what happened after the crimes of Leatherface came to light, and then skipping to many years later to the 'present day'.
Not a fan of the school of innovative writing, it's full of absurd behaviour, stupidity, and the expected.
The lead character has some of the worst 'friends' in movie history and makes some of the worst decisions in it too.
The plot, such as there is, is so derivative that despite having watched it two months ago I forgot what happened until I read someone else's synopsis - it's that memorable. To be fair, there are attempts to shake up the 'Chainsaw' movies formula by the writers, but they've stuffed the movie with so many other genre clichés and such idiotic behaviour that their good work has been camouflaged by all the bad work - rather like painting a decent picture and then spilling paint over it.
Some scenes have okay tension, but the ending is marred by some godawful CGI and ludicrous behaviour.
Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't - this is a marmite movie that's likely to win haters and fans in equal measure.
