Ghost Stories For Christmas - Both Releases,
This review is from: Ghost Stories for Christmas (Expanded 6-Disc Collection Box Set) [DVD] (DVD)
As the other reviewers have noted, for viewers of a certain age the content of this set needs little by way of introduction. However, I note the reservations about its release on the back of the previous five disc BBC M.R. James collection. To clarify, this is the same set with the notable addition of an extra disc containing three episodes, read by Michael Bryant, of Spine Chillers (1980) and all five episodes of the Robert Powell-narrated Classic Ghost Stories (1986).
I would understand the aforesaid reservations if this extra disc wasn't being made available separately, but it is -
Classic Ghost Stories James DVD
In light of this, there is absolutely no need for purchasers of the earlier set to double dip, so I don't see how it in any way constitutes a rip off. It merely gives prospective purchasers an additional option and have we as fans really become so blasé that we no longer celebrate the continued release, in high quality digital format, of such previously rare archive material?

Five disc set - Run Time: 477 minutes
Six disc set - Run Time: 796 minutes
So well over 5 hours more material here - can't see that all being on the disc mentioned in this review!
