This review is from: How to Draw Manga (Paperback)
There are mixed reviews for this book... but mainly because people misinterpret what manga is.

If you want your characters to look more "real" then you want to be drawing anime... that is where attention to detail etc comes into play.

If you're wanting to draw "simple" cartoonish characters, then it's manga that you want.

And this book is fantastic for that. It gives you a step-by-step guide from the basic structures of body, face, clothes to colour technique!

And if you want something a bit more indepth... then Katy's next book 'How to draw more manga' is the next thing to buy.

This book really is a must have!

Sorry to comment but I noticed you put "If you want your characters to look more "real" then you want to be drawing anime... that is where attention to detail etc comes into play.

If you're wanting to draw "simple" cartoonish characters, then it's manga that you want."

This is not true! I speak Japanese and Manga means comic in Japanese! Manga is anything not moving, while anime is the animated version (hence the name...)
I had to point this out as it is misleading! Manga and anime can be just as detailed as each other, take studio ghibli films for example!
