Adrift in Barcelona,
This review is from: The Summer of Dead Toys (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)In fairness I draw attention to other reviewers who have not had problems with this tale of murder and mayhem during five days in Barcelona. For myself, I began to lose patience with the effort required to unravel the many strands; the lack of focus stalled the onward progress so that I was increasingly tempted to turn ahead a couple of pages in the hope of picking up where I had been taken.
The characters are well drawn, and it was not hard to recognise a city where I have spent many pleasant days.
In the end, I felt that the book suffered from first novelitis - the desire to add too many ingedients.

I'm half way through and am having the same problems you had with lack of focus. When I put it down, I feel no particular urge to pick it up again. Not sure if I shall even make it to the end.
