Thanks for the live album, but you really shouldn't have bothered.,
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
Some live albums enhance an artists reputation, some are trainwrecks. Others have the whiff of balance sheets and tax bills.I would put this album in the third catagory.
For your dough, you get fifteen live songs recorded around the world on the bands reunion tour, performed adequately, but all inferior to their studio counterparts. Add some very poor vocal performances from Mr Folds [just listen to the off key first notes of Jackson Cannery], and you get a pointless live album devoid of the excitement a live show can arouse.
Still fans of the band will no doubt enjoy the album, especially those who went to a show that features on the album. For the rest of us Ben folds Five Live is a live album that is completely, and utterly unessential.
