This review is from: Full Catastrophe Living: How to cope with stress, pain and illness using mindfulness meditation (Paperback)
If you suffer from stress this book and c.ds could well save your life.

Each time I open this text I find guidance that relates to me. It's written in a different way from other self help books. It's gentle and enlightening. I take away something to think about each time I read a few pages. I am currently on week three of the eight week meditation course (on cd). Even though I am aware that my mind is still wandering onto jobs to do; how social interactions have gone... I am coming back to the moment more quickly. Each day I follow these c.d's means that the day is less stressful and I am slowly becoming more mindful. I am finally starting to get some joy back into my life. My husband and children are happier. I am no longer consumed and blindly led where my mind decides to take me. It's not destroying me. I want to be here to enjoy life now. Some of you wont understand this, while others will.

Hey,
I am a mother, too. I often get weighed down with too many thoughts etc preventing me from just being in the now and enjoying this moment. Anyway, what is the 8 week course you mention and is it available on amazon? Thanks in advance for your help. Hayley

Morning Hayley! The eight week course is the 4 cd meditation set that Jon Kabot Zinn talks about in his book. You have to find time very day to do the meditations (which can be very tricky, and if I miss one I am really aware of my body becoming stressed ). Each CD is a different type of meditation and you may find one works better than another, it is a personal thing. It's wonderful to feel that sense of calm and incredible to have so much more patience and understanding with your children when you have done your meditation. The Practice CDS are entitled Guided mindfulness meditation by Jon Kabat Zinn. He used these in the The University of Massachusetts for people suffering from all sorts of issues that many docs could help with. Good Luck, kind regards Vickie
