Tragic, harrowing, disturbing. A brilliant book,
This review is from: God Works for Me Now (Paperback)I only read this book because I was a school with Jacky and in more recent years our paths have crossed again. Knowing the author made this true account of an abusive bully all the more disturbing and at times distressing. Having worked as psychotherapist with women who have experienced all levels of domestic abuse I believe a copy should be available in all refuges. It made me wonder how many abusers suffer from undiagnosed narcissistic personality disorder - makes a joke out of anger management courses the courts used to send them on. I hope and pray Jai receives and accepts the appropriate help he needs, someday.
A brilliant book, excellently written. Jacky somehow manages to convey the light of the human spirit triumphing (sometimes only a glimmer) throughout her book. It explores the overwhelming pain of loving a damaged soul. Then the sad realization that this love can't conquer his illness.
I could go on and on........... buy the book and see how it makes you feel.
