I was really looking forward to reading this, as I'd never heard that Shakespeare had a "legal" wife other than Anne Hathaway, and I'm interested in the period. I thought that it might help me to understand Shakespeare better, as I've always struggled with his work, even at school doing A Level English Literature I had difficulty getting my head round it, much preferring Chaucer. Bits of it I found interesting, but to be honest I gave up halfway through. I hate admitting defeat on a book, but I was at the stage where it was a chore and not a pleasure to read it. Probably down to me and my lack of comprehension, I'm sure genuine Shakespeare fans will love it.

Hi, its pure speculation that Shakespeare had any wife other than Anne Hathaway. Please don't take anything in this book as having historical validity.
