First saw this in the eighties and my VHS copy has been viewed over and over again every Christmas. It's become part of the annual ritual of things I have to watch. I'm so pleased it has finally been released on DVD -what took them so long! No wonder it is in the Forgotten Classics Collection, though to me it will always be "Singleton's Pluck". I've been a fan of Ian Holm's for years and working with his wife Penelope Wilton invariably brings out the best in him. They are both in top form, though his character is tough to like in the first 15 minutes or so. It's great to see Bill Owen again, though he seems to have borrowed some of Compo's wardrobe for this role. The goose drive not attempted since medieval times is treated in mock western fashion which is part of its charm. Can't wait to watch this once again.
