3.0 out of 5 stars Could be sooooo much better!, 15 July 2003
This review is from: The Vertigo Of Bliss (Audio CD)
I bought this album purely because the band are playing where i live and,not many do, and i like the single.
In brief this album would be far better if it were not for 2 niggling aspects.
Firstly shouting is all well and good for some bands (RATM, Foo Fighters etc,it comunicates energy) but for biffy clyro it sounds like nails down a blackboard.
Second, the band hail from Scotland?? I think, so why the fake American accents, why why why??? They dont sound as bad as Busted, but not too far away! Much like Idelwild in that context. Painful. Not saying that they should sound like the Proclaimers though, perhaps more like Hundred Reasons, non discript, but not fake.
Ignoring these points however, this really is a fine album, some of the guitar playing is very original, you never really know whats coming next, and the lead singer really can sing, when he's not shouting like a banchee. And I will be seeing they live still!
