A cursed Tar,
This review is from: Master Mariner, book 2: Darken Ship (Hardcover)
The continuing tale of Matthew Dawes, the sailor, whose cowardice invoked a curse, that of immortality. In the first book, Master Mariner, he lives through periods in history, ranging from Francis Drake, to Samuel Pepys and beyond.
In this book, up to relatively modern times, the curse is lifted, but sadly, Nicholas Monsarrat died before he could finish this excellent novel, and it was finished by someone else.
Although an excellent read one can't help being disappointed in not being able to read what Monsarrat had intended as the end.
Similar to Dickens' Mystery of Edwin Drood. Here, however, no one did anything, the novel is suddenly cut off, just like that.
