Yay.. no more collecting empty tubs from the chinese!,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Aladdin 0.95 Litre Bento Lunchbox, Blue (Kitchen & Home)
Picked one of these up because a couple of folks at work already had one and had recommended them, and I'm so glad I did.
I've spent years running round the house like a looney in the mornings looking for the lid that goes with "this" tub or conversely, the tub to go with "that" lid. Cheapo sandwich tubs from the shops, or more commonly left over tubs from the Chinese takeaway that have been washed out and pressed into service as a means of transporting lunch from the fridge and into the office (assuming you can find a complete tub + lid), can just about fit a slice of bread in and invariably get close to melting point if you attempt to microwave them...
My aladdin does away with all that messing about, and even sports 2 compartments, allowing me to bring in extra for my partner, a second course, or whatever.
I tend to use this to transport cold pasta's and the like, and to be honest only really need to use half of it as it'll hold a fair amount of food if you're just planning on carrying lunch. The larger compartment comes with a little plastic tray thing that you can use to separate things out with if you want to. As a modular system you can also buy different lids or tubs and connect them together into larger "boxes" or separate them into two individual ones instead if you prefer.
Unfortunately due to the shape, you aren't going to be carrying sandwiches in this thing, but you can carry pretty much anything else.
I've not run into the problems others have reported with keeping food hot, as I generally use it to carry cold food, which it does without any difficulties. When I've needed to heat food in it, it's been fine to stick in the office microwave and has the benefit of actually being able to turn on the plate (something i found the rectangular tubs I used before were often too large to do)
Unfortunately the price on these things is a bit prohibitive, which is why I've marked it down. Other than that, as long as you plan to either eat cold food, or be some place where you can nuke it, this thing is perfect, and I'm happy to recommend it.
