Couldn't believe how poor the acting was.,
This review is from: Hush [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)I bought this expecting a low budget British film. Not expecting expensive CGI, but a decent plot and competant acting.
First up some positives. The picture quality is excellent and the sound is very good. The plot is original and the setting appealing to me as I spend a lot of time on the M1.
However as soon as the actors started speaking I thought something was wrong. At first I assumed it was just my lack of familiarity with a Manchunian accent. However I usually really enjoy strong regional accents, when well done. However the main characters dialouge in the first 15 minutes is the definition of wooden. I honestly have seen better acting on CBBC. An edgy suspense film like this is supposed to be slightly unplesant in places, but not because of the terrible acting. I thought it might get better with time, but it didn't. The other actors aren't much better and its quite difficult to believe in the situation when the characters sound so unconvincing.
Its all a bit of a shame because the rest of the film is prety good, including some genuine moments of suspense using imaginative camera work and emotive music. Doesn't work for me though as I just cant beleive in the central character.
Perhaps if you can overcome this you might enjoy the film more than I did.
