An awful sequel,
This review is from: Dragon Age 2 (PS3) (Video Game)
I'm afraid to say I think this is one of the worst games I have ever played. I loved Origins and everything that made that game brilliant is gone in this sequel. I couldn't talk to my companions at all unless it was scripted so I felt nothing for them and couldn't have cared less whether they survived or not. I couldn't interact with about ninety percent of the people in the city so I felt like I was in a cardboard world. The city itself had little detail and seemed bland, lifeless and boring so being stuck in it for most of the game was painful. The story felt disjointed, lacklustre and uninspiring, all I seemed to do was run around doing errands for money.
A lot of the places were recycled so that broke any feeling of immersion, I don't mind an environment being repeated once or twice, but over and over again? I hated the new combat which seems to be based on ninjas jumping about all over the place at super human speeds whilst enemies parachute in from thin air above your head. You cannot fight tactically in this game either as placing your mage away from the fight is pointless as new waves of enemies appear behind them out of nowhere in every fight.
The armour you pick up can't be used to equip your team mates anymore, and the graphics look awful. Some of the elves look so bad you start to wonder if this was a joke. The only thing I liked about this game was Merril but even she looked dubious and needed much more work, dialogue and story wise to make her into a fleshed out character.
Overall I just can't understand why they've taken something that was a huge hit and a brilliant game and in the sequel instead of tweaking any minor problems have thrown it all away and taken it's heart and soul out.
